Remarks by the Board – DOHN Financial Report 2025

In 2025, we experienced the impact of changing political priorities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands. This resulted in the disappearance of budgets for Human Rights projects at embassies, and consequently the loss of financial support for our projects through these channels. There is hope that the new government, with a different political orientation, may partially restore this support.

In response, during 2025 we adjusted our strategy by focusing more on smaller-scale photography projects, including initiatives in Thailand and Indonesia. These projects also provide content for the publication of our first magazine, scheduled for release in 2026.

DOHN Magazine

We started the production of our first DOHN Magazine in 2025. Some costs are realized in 2025, but most of the costs – and hopefully extra sponsoring from individuals – will follow during 2026.

Project: Documentary Lotus Sports Club

During 2025, no further post-production costs were incurred for Lotus Sports Club.

We did receive some revenue in 2025, including screening fees from film festivals and a broadcast organization. Looking ahead, we expect only limited additional income, primarily from Video-on-Demand platforms.

All investors have been fully reimbursed for their initial investment. Future revenues will be allocated to the deferral beneficiaries (as listed in the recoupment schedule), thereby compensating—at least in part—the working time they invested over the past seven years. We could do such a payment in 2025.

As in 2024, we organized a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign in 2025 to support the Lotus Sports Club team. The funds were used to complete their training field and to commission a graffiti artist to create a mural at the site. Both projects were successfully completed in 2025.

Over de course of the last 10 years, the total balance of this project in about Eur 1000 negative. That is due to the assignment we gave to the graffiti artist to make a great art-piece at the training field of Lotus Sports Club.
