DOCUMENT OUR HISTORY NOW

Document Our History Now supports film makers, documentary makers, photographers, and journalists in Southeast Asia in their efforts to tell stories about LGBTQ+ communities, individuals and events, along with their history and what they are striving for.

NEWS

In cooperation with Kars Tuinder (Photohostel & Photocafe in Bangkok) we granted two Queer photography projects in Thailand. Out of 7 applications, we selected Khant Khant (a photographer from Myanmar), who will capture Queer persons who fled from Myanmar and now living in a refugee camp in the Northwest of Thailand and  Min (Bangkok) who will make a serie about Tomboys in Bangkok. We expect the results in the fall of 2025.

OUR VISION

Change begins when LGBTQ+ people are heard, when they leave a trail. That is why we want to help to tell stories, to mark important events and to record the histories of individual people and communities. We want to give LGBTQ+ people a face and a voice: let them show and tell about their situation and their history, their joys and their needs. Our purpose is to work with filmmakers, documentary makers, photographers and journalists from Southeast Asia.  Read more

NEW IDEA

In October 2024 we met Ryan Andrew in Jakarta, Indonesia and we got enthusiastic about his photography project “How Must I Live?” Ryan will produce it in different ‘chapters’ (sub-projects) and Document Our History Now is interested to sponsor a few of those chapters. Have a look at our Idea-page, click here.
