DOCUMENT OUR HISTORY NOW

Document Our History Now supports documentary makers, photographers, documentalists and journalists in Southeast Asia in their efforts to tell stories and document Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities, individuals and events, along with their history and what they are striving for.

NEWS

LGBTI Documentary night in Phnom Penh, during 2021.

During our last visit to Cambodia (February 2020) we got lot of support to organise a LGBTI documentary event in Phnom Penh, co-organised with RoCK, at Friend’s Future Factory. We will create an open air cinema there. The EU Mission and the US Embassy will be sponsoring. We keep you updated when we plan it. Due to cover that is postponed for now.

OUR VISION

Change begins when LGBT people are heard, when they leave a trail. That is why we want to help to tell stories, to mark important events and to record the histories of individual people and communities. We want to give LGBTs a face and a voice: let them show and tell about their situation and their history, their joys and their needs. We only work with photographers and documentary makers from Southeast Asia.  Read more

NEW IDEA

‘Love and Other Matters’ is now part of Myanmar’s national cultural heritage

In 2015, together with the Yangon Film School and Colors Rainbow, we produced Love and Other Matters (Directed by Su Su Hlaing), a highly appreciated and often screened documentary.   In their aim to promote filmmaking education and documentaries about Myanmar, Yangon Film School has donated its entire collection to the Audio-Visual section of the renewed National Library of Myanmar. We are very happy to support this.  Our production of Love and Other Matters is now part of Myanmar’s national cultural heritage and will now be accessible to the public for generations to come.
