6th LGBTIQ+ Movie Night Bangkok March 2024

Bangkok, 22 February 2024

We look back on a successful 6th edition of the LGBTIQA+ Movie Night at the embassy of the Netherlands.

The Dutch ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden and his great team welcomed us in their lush gardens of the Embassy for the 6th edition of this open air event. Their organisation was outstanding and led to a great atmosphere. 260 people attended the movie night and we got very positive feedback from them. With Paul Overdijk (Chair of Pride@work Thailand) as the MC on the ground (many thanks Paul), we curated the following diverse program with 10 titles from Netherlands, Germany, Thailand and Vietnam:

Golden, Germany (3 min)

After the welcoming words of ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden, we did show 3 short movies made by 4th grade students of the Bangkok University. They got the assigenment to produce a short Queer story as part of their final education year. The 3 selected shorts were selected as the top 3 out of 10 shorts produced by the Bangkok University students.

Dad, Thailand (10 min)
A son’s journey to honor his father’s last wish transforms his life, leading to an unconventional yet heartwarming tale of love, acceptance and the resilience of unconventional families.

The Secret, Thailand (8:30 min)
A young girl from Esan (Thailand) lives with her inner voice as she battles loneliness, insecurity and anxiety.

Summertime, Thailand (8:47 min)
A self-exploration story about two girls from a bisexual perspective. How many summers can a person feel in life? There is always a summer to remember. A film dedicated to the people who were that summer in our lives.
