Queer Burmese living on Thai Border
2025 | Photography | No lyrics | Photography in Video
When Myanmar’s military staged a coup in 2021, many people fled across the border into Thailand. Among them were Burmese LGBTIQ+ people, a community already marginalized at home and further endangered by the junta’s violence. This project documents the lives of Burmese LGBTIQ+ people now living in Mae Sot, Thailand.

Two dancers find themselves in a dance of struggle and oppression as they fight their inner feelings for each other. An intimate observation where different emotions find a physical expression and release as they embrace their own desires and let go of all restraint.
How Must I Live?
4:38 min. | 2025 | Ryan Andrew | English sub.| Indonesia
Ryan met several Queer people, living in different parts of Indonesia. He joined their lives for a short period and Ryan did see, felt and experimented which part(s) of their sexual and/or gender identity resonated with him. His interaction with other Queers in order to self-explore, resulting in a photography series in his personal photography language. See the results as a video-production.

‘Thongkam’ and ‘Sek’, a devoted gay couple, have worked tirelessly to build a life together, including owning a house and a durian orchard in Mae Hong Son. Tragedy strikes when Sek dies suddenly in an accident, revealing that they were never legally married in Thailand, leaving Thongkam with no rights to their assets. The house and orchard now belong to Sek’s mother, who moves in with her adopted daughter ‘Mo’ and gardener ‘Jingna’. Thongkam must now fight to reclaim the fruits of his love and labor.
